What you said is indeed noble and admirable, experiencesforum.

However..

I hope this change you are contemplating is something very tangible. The "defect" children as you have said. Children who waste away in hospital beds, life for them is so difficult. They too had dreams, dreams robbed by illness and ignorance. The feeling of helplessness and dejection because you are seen as nothing more than a "defect."

I know because I have been there with them and I myself am no exception. We go to these lobbyists and people like you who proclaim change; who believe you can see what we see. Since no one else is willing to listen, we go to you believing so much that you are the change we want to see. Weeks, months, and years go by and nothing materializes. You return normally to your life, whilst we return to our troublesome lives.

I hate to see life gambled with in this way. Manufactured promises which people often pride themselves on, by which no one is willing to make sacrifices. If you think you know how it is to lose everything you love, put yourself in the shoes of the "defects."

If people only knew the truest testament to love is sacrifice. I am not moved by petty words but how much one is willing to suffer for what they truly love. You will hold two very important things in your hands - your family and your cause. When your hands are forced what will you hold onto and what will you let go of?

Life becomes shallow this way, meaningless - because people aren't able to understand each other. We aren't willing to make sacrifices for the sake of another. Something can only appreciated and loved only after proud words become selfless actions. If not we go through life and nothing will have changed and if that's the case it's better to not have lived...

Be true to what you say experiencesforum, because your actions define your being.

wow Dawn, i really impressive about what you said, its really true, sorry to say what i wish before, maybe it caused i don`t have enough experience with a lot of defect people, but i have 2 'little defect' friends when i was 8 years old, 1 of them cant speak, 1 of them had a mental defect, my other friends like to bullying them, insulting them, even sometimes throwing stones to them, i really pity what they did to them, i said " stop it friends, how if you`re in their state ? ", and my friends stopped it because i say it, but when i`m not around, they still bullying my "defect" friends, i cant do more than that, because all of them are my friends.

but i`m a biotechnologist, on food research and agriculture industry science areas, what can i do to help them ?, i cant heal people with my research, but maybe i can only make a research of food that can prevent normal people to become a "defect" people, because there are many food in my country that can make cancer. but sorry dawn, for what i said before, now i realize that my wishes are selfish, i ask non-'defect' children, but there are still a lot of defect pupils wasting their life and dreams because their illness. so what you do for them dawn ?, maybe it can help inspire me what should i do.

I often wondered the same thing.

There are all kinds of bullies in the world, but I guess this is the nature of survival. It's only natural that no action ever comes without a reaction, nothing begets nothing. If such is true, that's why some people can't help being hated no matter what they do.

If your wish is to stay the same and not make any change - do nothing, say nothing. Lie down and do not stand up. Stand up to hatred and risk becoming hated yourself; hold onto one thing and risk having to let go of something else. This is the reality that change often does not come without it's rewards or it's sacrifices.

And as for change, how could one say they will open their arms and assist - without first opening their ears to listen; without first opening their mind to understand; without first opening their heart to sympathize. Those who believe so much in change place upon human lives and the world some "ideal order", some sort of "universal rightness" with which it can be judged. This is not change, but pure selfishness when people gamble with other peoples lives. We are all born weak and helpless, so why is it then fair to bully the weak and helpless? Or fair to ignore them and let them waste away?

As for what you said about not being able to help people with the job you're doing, is not true. Anybody in any position can make a difference in someone's life if they are willing to make a sacrifice. I don't believe your wishes are selfish - I remember calling them "noble and admirable." But change is not backed by words alone, it begins with changing yourself. And if your words become actions someday, how will your actions have defined your existence?

My dream gig is a "pension". Laughing

I was fortunate to have retired at 38, having spent the better part of 22yrs, 350ft underground. I wasn't exactly thrilled with the work, the graveyard shift hours,or the fact i missed out on a lot of my youth. but the pay was excellent and reason i took the job. I was 16 earning 3x my fathers salary. Not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, I viewed it as a golden opportunity and dropped out of school. Wouldn't recommend leaving school in this day and age. you need a degrees just to work at the grocery store .
My advice is to do something you enjoy, and that is legal. Very Happy

Well how much do you have to fall back on? I think you already know how hard it is to get a pension these days if you don't make enough.

So true, if you leave school these days, your options become severely limited.

Also true, do a job that's meaningful to you. The worst thing is to be stuck in a dead-end job that you hate.

I'll think about it Very Happy ahhahahah kidding, of course lol!
How to explain it... It wouldn't be luxury, but it will be very special. Different from other boring hotels lol. For example, I like photography, so in hotel will be something called eg."PHOTOGRAPHY CORNER" where people will be photographed for money (I'll photograph Very Happy), so I'll be happy with my hoby which will be paid. If the cook like painting, writing, making souvenirs, or anything else, he could show the world that he can do everything in that hotel Very Happy ! Pretty imaginative, huh? Embarassed Can't explain it, it's my imagination only, but I hope it will be real one day. :3

My dream job is to become a software architect one day. Currently I am occupying myself as a senior software assistant. My aim is to achieve my dream within another 4 years.

What is a software architect?
We know it is somebody.

It could be the ever-faithful calculator that gets "punched" a lot.
It could be a fallen angel standing in the presence of a god.

Or it could be the delicate butterfly.
It could be the ethereal moth that wishes it were the delicate butterfly.
It could be the earthy dragonfly that wishes it were the ethereal moth.
It could be the same delicate butterfly that wishes it was the earthy dragonfly

It could be the naive child throwing away a precious jewel because it wasn't a good "toy."
It could be the crafty deer that managed to escape capture from hunters only to wind up in the lion's den.

It could be the bread burning in the toaster that someone shunned for a greasy stick of butter stuck to the edge of a hot skillet.
It could be the leashed dog ironically chewing apart at a puppet.

We ask what a software architect is but have not asked what a software architect is not.

It could be nobody. A software architect could be nobody until somebody gives it purpose. Purpose has a deeper meaning than job. There's a difference between reality and how people view reality. A software architect is not simply a software architect when the software architect is free to reason out it's existence.
